 Lesley & Nigel

Events, Ink had the pleasure of designing, coordinating and providing a number of services, for Lesley Gargan & Nigel Turner's Grand Canyon West Wedding.  Their wedding was on September 16, 2006 and was quite special & unique!  Nigel is the owner of HeliUSA in Las Vegas as well as the owner of the historic Diamond Bar Ranch - Grand Canyon West Ranch, 2 hours from Las Vegas at the West rim of the Grand Canyon.   The guests were treated to a hint of what to expect at the wedding as they received their invitation.  The invitation was presented in an 8" x 8" wooden box that had the Ranch Brand burned on the top of the box - thank you cowboys for branding the boxes.  When opened, the box revealed a suede lined inside that featured a sepia photomontage of the couple in the lid.  The invitation itself was two-toned suede that had a hand etched copper seal with the ranch brand and the wedding date.  When the invitation was removed from the box the theme from "the Good, the Bad & the Ugly" started playing and the guests were given a good luck horseshoe compliments of one of the many Quarter horses at the Grand Canyon West Ranch We are pleased to say that this invitation was featured at the  2007 National Stationery Show for the enVee honors in May 2007 http://www.isanv.com/events.html

The Wedding party was flown to the Ranch via HeliUSA helicopters and the Bridal Party enjoyed the rustic cabins and Tee-Pees as they stayed overnight.  Chef Emery of Emery’s Barrista in Henderson, Nevada, provided the delectable faire for the evening.  Guests dined on a duet of branded Diamond Bar Elk steaks & Spirit Mountain Salmon in addition to the other wonderful creations of Chef Emery.   The cake was provided by Freed's bakery and was nothing short of pure art!  Freed's bakery recreated the entire ranch, including Spirit Mountain, cabins, tee-pees and a HeliUSA helicopter on one of the most intricate cakes I have even seen.  Details of the cake, such as the helicopter replica were made of fondant & marzipan.  The cake was flown to the ranch - a very delicate mission!  Guests were treated to very special entertainment during the day & night.  Casey Adams, a local Grand Canyon favorite, provided guitar & vocals for the entire weekend.  Specialty acts from Mahoney's Entertainment included a fiddler, riverboat gambler / magician and a rag-time piano player just to name a few.  The Orchard, where the guests were entertained, was transformed at night with the help of over 100 mason jars filled with candles that had been hung from the apple trees.

Florals for the event were provided and made on-site by Events, Ink.  In addition to the traditional bouquets, boutonnieres & centerpieces, Events, Ink compiled 6' garlands studded with 75 - 100 roses each for the horses the Groom and his wedding party rode to the ceremony site.  The ceremony site was constructed on a bluff called Sunset Hill. The Ranch hands built a platform with a rustic arch that was decorated with both fresh and dried flowers.  The aisle runner and draping on the platform reflected the wedding colors in hues of burgundy & burnt orange and provided an excellent ceremony venue with Spirit Mountain directly behind.  While the men rode to the bluff on their horses, the ladies arrived via decorated wagon.  Lesley’s dress was custom designed by Allison Leach and made by dressmaker Tzetzi Ganev in Los Angeles.  The gown featured an interlocking replica of the Diamond Bar brand made of swarovski crystals.  Our groom looked as though he had just stepped out of Deadwood in his western tux.  In fact his suit was provided as a favor by United-American Costume, exclusive costumer for period film and TV programs, including Deadwood.

Photography for the Wedding weekend was also provided by Events, Ink - Mike Bennett, photographer.

Once the ceremony was complete, three helicopters flew by and dropped rose petals over the ceremony site, the wedding party & their guests.  After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a skit in the GCWR Western Village.  It featured our bride who was abducted by an outlaw and then was saved, of course, by the brave groom.  Dinner was served in the original Diamond Bar ranch house.  The decor was simple yet elegant with custom menus overlaid with single stemmed roses.  The centerpieces of roses & candlelight filled the room.  A campfire complete with blankets and toasted marshmallows were also available for those wanting to end the evening under the stars.
